I made a halter top today because it was St.Patricks day and I wanted to decorate a shirt in honour of that. Using a plain white t-shirt, you can make a halter top that will turn out like this. You can watch LaurDIY's video on diy halter tops.
I got this plain white fitted t-shirt form H&M. Make sure that it is a tighter fit t-shirt!!!!
Cut off the sleeves (where the seams are) and then cut the tops off of the sleeves so the front and back is no longer attached at the sleeves.
Then cut the back of the t-shirt. Make sure it's only the back of the shirt, not the front! This creates that open back.
Snip the hem of the shirt off. Then pin around the hem making a 1cm hem. Start sewing along the raw edge of the hem so that you make a little pocket. This is where the string will be going through to create a halter.
I decided to cut off the bottom of this shirt to make it more cropped.
I cut some "string" off the excess fabric from where I cropped the shirt.
Now, it's easiest to use a safety pin and attach that to the end of the string to thread it through the pocket in the neck hem that we made earlier. However, I didn't have a safety pin so I used a pin to stick the string through the pocket instead. You want to start scrunching up the fabric as you push the string through to the other end.
You should have the string looped through and now have the halter!
I decoarated mine with some green paint and rhinestones!!
I also created another tank top with green paint and sequence.
