DIY Pat Bing Soo! (Korean shaved ice dessert)

The months are getting warmer and that means the Korean Pat Bing Soo will now be out in stores. But you can easily make your very own Bing soo at home. For those of you who don't know what Pat Bing Soo is, it's a Korean shaved ice dessert usually consisting of shaved ice, red bean, different fruits and mochi.
They can look like:
Now all the topics are optional and can be changed to your liking. But I'm going to show you how to make the very basic, basic type of bing soo.

For the shaved ice, you're going to need an air tight plastic container such as this Ziploc container.

Then you're going to fill this container with milk. I filled it about 1/8th of the container and it gave me a full bowl (1 serving) of shaved ice. The next day, or when the milk is all frozen, run the bottom of the container under warm water for 2 minutes so that the milk softens up a bit. Then grab a spoon and smash the frozen milk until you get a shaved ice consistency.
To the shaved ice, I added some sweetened condensed milk. You can pour in the amount to your liking. Then stir until everything is combined. Then top with fruits, mochi and red bean. You can usually get canned adzuki beans from an Asian grocery store. That's the type of red beans used in Pat Bing Soo.

Hope you enjoyed this recipe!
