Smashbox Try It Kit (Haul!!!)

So I walked into Sephora to pick up the new Smashbox always on matte liquid lipstick (I bought the colour True Grit, and it's AMAZING!! I will post a review of it soon!) and I also ended up purchasing this. I had bought this last year as a stocking stuffer, but I wanted to try this out.
The kit comes with an eye shadow trio, a foundation primer, a mascara, a lip gloss and an eyeliner.

First impressions: First of all these sizes are itty bitty, they're like really small sample sizes. At first, I was thinking about returning it because wasn't sure if I would use most of the products, but I ended up keeping it once I fell in love with the eyeshadow and the primer.
This is the Full Exposure mascara, which I don't really think is that special. I think the wand is a little bit big, but it's nice because this mascara doesn't clump.

Next is this lip gloss, which at first I thought it was a really nice colour, but when I applied it, it didn't really show up. It was more just there to add shine. However, I do like the formulation. It's not sticky at all, it smells good, and I think this would be good for days where you want to keep your lips natural, or you could layer this on top of another similar colour to add some shine.

This eye shadow trio is amazing! I don't really own any matte eye shadows, so I was really looking forward to trying this out. Because these are neutrals, this is a great little trio for everyday wear. The formula is great, it's very pigmented and very blendable. I like all the colours, and this is also a great size to throw into your bag or for travelling.

This eyeliner is ok. I had a little bit more expectations for this because it's waterproof, and it's the ones you twist, so you don't have to sharpen it. However, this smudges everywhere. It transferred all along my lower lash line. Maybe this would be good for tight lining? I have yet to find a use for this.
This primer, oh yes. I've heard some great reviews about this, but wasn't sure if I wanted to buy the full size for $44, so I was excited when this came in the kit. I like how this feels very silky and smooth when I apply it, and I mostly use this in my T-zone, and my eye lids.
This keeps the makeup in place for a really long time, and because it's super hot out there, my T-zone tends to get more oily and I find my foundation can start to cake up or wear off.
But with this primer, it helps from keeping my makeup melt away.

I'm not sure if I'm still committed to go out and buy the full size, after this one runs out because it's a bit pricey. I might experiment with alternative primers, and if I find that this is the best one, I may purchase.

Overall, I think this is a good kit to purchase if you're new to smashbox, and want to try out a little bit of everything. This kit is $26(Cdn) and don't let Sephora fool you when they say "$71 value!" because it would be $71 if the sizes weren't this tiny, but I think this is a pretty good kit whether you are new to makeup, or new to smashbox, or just want to try out different products for under $30.
