First Time Drugstore Hair Dye- Useless

ALRIGHT, so let me start off by saying that THIS PRODUCT will never, ever be re-purchased ever again. I know that there were a lot of articles saying that hairdressers don't recommend this product, and it didn't get a lot of great reviews, but I was like what IF it does work though?
Plus I saw this diagram on the box, and I was like ok the ends of my hair are like the dark blonde in this picture, I'm sure that's the colour it will turn out.

LISTEN.

THE PICTURE ON THE BOX IS A LIE.

First of all, this kit comes with step 1-3 which is pretty easy, and you just pour all of #1 into #2, and that creates this pink dye.

And, I've never dyed my hair from a hair dye box before, so I didn't really think much about THE SMELL that comes with this. At the salon, the smell is there, but it's fine, that's what hair dye smells like. NO. THIS WAS DEATH. It was like breathing in poison, and I was crying, and I had to go and stick my face out a window for 20 minutes trying to get this smell out of my nose. It was the most rancid, disgusting and unbearably chemical smell I have ever witnessed.

But I trudged through because pastel pink is my dream colour. I used about 3/4 of the colour mixture on just the ends of my hair, and you can see the pink is showing up. I was like great, this is great, 20 minutes later and I'm going to have pink hair.

So after 20 minutes, I lathered my hair in a little bit of warm water, applied step #3 which is the conditioner, let that sit it for 2 minutes, then rinsed out until water turned clear, and then towelled dry. I followed the exact instructions,
AND WHEN MY HAIR WAS DRY, GUESS WHAT COLOUR WASN'T THERE?
My hair looks EXACTLY the same as before, no trace of pink to be seen.

The only "pro" that came out of this experience was that step 3, the conditioner is amazing, and made my hair as soft as kittens, but unless you have white hair, I don't know if this dye will show up.
$9.00 wasted, my eyes and nose burning, this was not great.

I guess it's good that this dye didn't burn my hair or do something terrible to it, like some stories I've heard, but the packaging is very misleading; as the whole "how this colour will look depending on what shade of blonde you have" is not correct, and the only person who would be able to use this, is if you literally bleached your hair 400 times.
