Planning With Jean

Today, let me show you kind of how I plan, what my planner looks like and some tips I use when I'm using a planner. Personally, I love planning, I love writing and making lists and I know some people can just be told when things are due then remember them when they get home, but my memory skills are terrible, so writing things down is super helpful for me.
I also just really like to handwrite things rather than inputting it into my phone, also this looks a lot cuter.
As for my actual planner, it's a light pink paperback book sized planner with rose gold, and it's from the company ban.do. I originally wanted one of their other planners, but it was much bigger and would be extremely heavy to carry around in my bag.

When you open up the planner, the first page comes with these super adorable stickers (I really wish they sold them in packs, because these are sooo cute)
And then they have the weekly slots. As you can see I doodle a lot, and I like to keep things super colourful. I usually write down things like which episode of a TV show I'm on (the priorities..) and what time I have work, which blog posts I'm uploading and which blog posts I need to write.
I use these Papermate markers called Flair which come in a pack of 12 which I bought at Wal-Mart for $8. They're fine tip, and they don't bleed through the pages (unless you're layering colours, then obviously they're gonna bleed through.) But the colours are really bold, and I'm in love with these markers.
At the beginning of each month there's also a monthly view, which I personally don't use that much but it's cute because ban.do also lists things like "national relaxation day" and cute little holidays like that.
It also comes with a little notes section at the beginning of each month, and here I just wrote down a list of some Throwback early 2000s songs, which includes So sick by Ne-Yo, Ignite by R.Kelly, Lucky by Britney Spears and Where is the love by the Black eyed peas.

Here's another sample page of one of my journal pages, and I usually go and draw in pencil first then colour it in with the markers. Currently I have my "scribble stuff" lead pencils which apparently are special lead pencils for drawing. And I have my cute pink jelly belly eraser.
I also sometimes like to write down my favourite song of the week. My favourite things to draw are cactuses, eggs and lips. Which is a weird combination but those are literally my aesthetics.
As well, the planner comes with these super cute illustrated pages which just adds that extra cuteness factor and colour to the planner.

Some tips for keeping a planner:
Actually write in it. Back in high school, we had these agendas and there would be a period of 3 months where nothing was written in it, and my life was a mess.

If you're a doodler like me, make sure the doodles aren't in the way of your writing space, you want to keep it you, but also clean so that you can actually read what you wrote.

You should write down due dates, but also as well as what you need to do on certain days before the due date, that way you're not trying to finish an assignment in 1 night. (But tbh from my personal experience you can easily bullshit an essay in a night and get an average mark.)

Try to keep your agenda for actual work only. Because when you let your friends write comments and draw stuff in your agenda, you're going to end up with a whole page filled with song lyrics, a drawing interpretation of your face and "omg I'm so bored."
