This is the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella. This is the free sample I got from Sephora as my birthday gift, so it's a miniature version. This package also came with another called "Rikugen" which is a satin lip pencil. I prefer the colour of that but would like it better if it was in the matte finish like Cruella.
This is the actual size. Look how cute it is! This is perfect for travelling, and I think it's a good size for a tester, there's actually a lot more product than you think there is. I'm not sure if I would go out an buy this in the full size though, I'm not really a red lip kind of person.
This is the swatch with NO FILTER except the natural rays of the sun. It's this kind of brick red. I suggest using a lip liner first (as all red lipsticks should be used with a lip liner) because this can get a little messy and it's a little difficult to apply in the corners of your mouth, because it's a rounded tip.
This is what it looks like freshly put on (It's very noticable) and the finish is soooooooo nice. The matte formula makes your lips look so smooth (which is a magical factor because I have chronic dry lips) and plump. On a scale of 1-10 how dry does this matte formula get? I would say a 5. When you first put it on, it feels creamy, but throughout the day it can get a bit drying but I've experienced worse. It doesn't feel like I haven't drank water in 4 days, but it does tend to sink into your lip cracks throughout the day.
Although I will say, the colour pay off is amazing!
The lip colour after 7 hours, It's a little faded but the colour is still noticeable, and it actually looks still pretty good.
Overall rating: 8/10
1.Good colour pay off
2. Nice formula
3. Nice packaging
4. Makes your lips look plump
I do reccomend this to people who want a nice red lip for fall, as it is a little more on the burgundy side. Also if you're all about Kylie's lips, this colour is great for making your lips look full and plump.
