September Discoveries (beauty+fashion+other cool things I discovered this month)

Alright, so I don't want to say "September Favourites" because some of these products I bought in September, and I just wanted to mention my thoughts so far on them, but it's not like I've been using these for a month and am reviewing it. Any ways, let's jump into some of the cool things I discovered this month!

BEAUTY

This is the L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil which I saw on the Sephora website in the summer, and it had great reviews (particularly great if you're going to shave)  but some people complained about the almond scent, so I thought I should smell it before purchasing. Also my friend Megan recommended that I should purchase this as well.
This 250 mL bottle was $25 which is a little pricey since I usually just pick up some 400 mL bottle of body wash at Wal Mart for like $7. If I were to compare this to other brands, Lush sells shower gels for about $20 for a 250 mL bottle, and Philosophy's shower gels are about $22 for 475 mL. So obviously, this particular one is a little bit on the more expensive side, but I mean, what can you expect? L'Occitane is a FRENCH brand, and they're known to be more high end.

I personally really dig the scent. It smells very light and kind of floral. I'm not sure if I'm really getting any almond smell. I personally really like almond smells, and was expecting like an almond extract or almond cookie kind of smell, but this is much lighter and fresher.

So, these are the iconic Tweezerman tweezers which are supposed to be like "the best tweezers ever." You might be thinking, how can there be a "best tweezer" when they all do the same thing? If it plucks, it's fine. But no, these tweezers are like god's gift to eyebrows.
Because for some reason, I seem to always end up going to Sephora and making an accidental purchase (as in I walk in looking to pick up something specific/browse and end up spending far too much money.), these tweezers are not an exception in this case.

I was going into Sephora, looking to buy a pair of tweezers because my eyebrow knife was just not cutting it (haha, get it?). And I had the intention to buy the Tweezerman Mini tweezers which are exactly the same, but $18. This was what was in that bin, so I assumed this was the mini version, but when I got to the cash it ended up being the full sized version, making this tweezer $30.

$30 ON A PAIR OF TWEEZERS IS PRETTY RIDICULOUS I MEAN I COULD BUY A DECENT DINNER WITH $30. So I was like alright, maybe I should return these.

But this tweezer is MAGICAL. It's so sharp it could actually endanger you, and others around you, but because it's slanted, it really gets the most difficult of eyebrow hairs, and the stainless steel blade makes plucking so easy.

So is $30 worth it? No, because I don't think any pair of tweezers no matter how good it is should be that expensive, but for some reason the tweezer market is very expensive, and if you were going to spend $20 on some random tweezer, I would say just spend an extra $10 to get this particular one.

VIDEOS

Here are some youtube channels that YOU HAVE TO CHECK OUT!

88rising is a youtube channel that covers videos from Asian food to Asian Hip Hop to some interviews with Korea's new r&b artist Dean, and L.A Korean rapper Dumbfoundead. They also upload videos for the 17 year old rapper Rich Chigga (who actually makes really lit music, and is full of talent.)
I like that they're showcasing Asian culture, by exposing Asian hip hop artists and Asian food, as the lack of POC in the media is an issue. So I like that they're bringing more light on the Asian culture.

junskitchen this is literally the best channel I have ever witnessed in my existence. Junskitchen features Jun bringing you tutorials on how to make Japanese Cuisine in under 7 minutes, and the videography is amazing. I love how he starts his videos with his cat in the basket of his bicycle, and they go to the market together. And, he cooks together with his cat which is amazing, and adorable. Also, his knife work is AMAZING. The way he slices things up is sooooooooooooo good, and the food he creates is literally art.

This is one of his videos, where he creates koi fish sushi, and it's a beautiful piece of art.

PPAP, if you haven't heard of already, you need to. THIS IS MY FAVOURITE SONG AND I KNOW ALL THE LYRICS TO THIS. I originally discovered this song through Gotoe's parody version (which I suggest you watch also, I think his parody is the best out of all the ones out there, and actually prefer his video to the original.) and the song is just soooo catchy, and the beat is my jam. The lyrics make no sense, and doesn't have a meaning behind it (at least I think it doesn't) but it's hella catchy, and quickly becoming viral.

#IAm Constance Wu is a video by CAPE which is the Coalition of Asian Pacific in Entertainment, where they interview different Asian stars in the entertainment industry, and I love Constance Wu from the tv show "Fresh Off The Boat" and quite frankly, she's my role model. She is just the most eloquent speaker, and is amazingly smart, and funny. And this interview was very touching and just overall perfection. And I think it's great what CAPE is doing because there is not enough media coverage on the issue POC, in this case, specifically to Asians in the media.

Eddie Huang's Interview was the greatest 35 minutes of my life, because he is the smartest man, and this was easily the most interesting serious interview I have listened in on. I highly recommend you check this interview out, because the things Eddie Huang has to say is just spot on.

MUSIC:
Usher brought his A-Game with his new song "No Limit" which is perfection. It's my favourite song this month and can't recommend it enough.

In terms of Kpop, because you know I always gotta mention a few when it comes to listing off my jams for the month, it's been Code V's song addiction (kor. version) which I didn't know who they were until I saw them on the reality show "I can see your voice" and they're a huge thing in Japan, but their song Addiction, is my new addiction.

FASHION:

I purchased his tote bag off of Society6.com which is a great website to buy phone cases, tote bags, sweaters, wall tapestries, art print, etc from your favourite artists! Artists sell their designs on a choice of your merchandise, and always have great deals such as free shipping for both domestic and international.

This tote bag is from the artist Henn Kim which you can purchase here (It's on sale right now!!!). I got it in a size medium, and is a great thick canvas material, and the print came out really nicely on it. The medium is also a great size for school as if fits my binders, pencil case, planner, wallet, keys and lunch and water bottle! Super roomy, and the length is perfect. Wish the inside had some pockets for storing phone/ makeup, but this is a great piece of art with amazing functionality!
